Pad Isolators

Vibration isolators commonly used for floor mounted equipment come in three categories, spring and rubber isolators and pads. The main difference between the spring and rubber (or pad) isolators is that rubber based products have damping characteristics whereas as in the spring version the damping is negligible. In contrast spring based isolators offer much greater deflection and load range, which allows for better vibration isolation efficiency. Pads should be preferred for vibration frequencies that are above 100 Hz, whereas rubber isolators can be effective for frequencies as low as 50 Hz. Disturbing frequencies that are below the range of rubber mounts should be isolated by spring type AVMs.
