This notice explains what personal information we hold, why we hold it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We have kept it short because we collect very little: this website has no forms, no accounts and no logins.
1. Who we are
Acrefine Engineering Services Ltd is the controller of your personal information. We are registered in England and Wales, Company No. 06687139. Registered office: 60 Mill Mead Business Centre, Mill Mead Road, London, N17 9QU, United Kingdom. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, reference ZB647340.
For anything in this notice, email us at info [at] acrefine.com.
Our online store, Fixing Smith, is a separate website with its own privacy notice.
2. What we collect
When you email us. Your name, email address and anything else you choose to include: job title, company, phone number, and the content of your message and its attachments, such as drawings and specifications. Project documents sometimes name other people, for example a consultant’s contact details on a drawing; we treat that information in the same way. Please do not send us health or other sensitive personal information; we do not need it.
When we work together. The names and business contact details of the people we deal with at our clients, suppliers and partners, together with the contract, delivery and invoicing records that go with the work.
When you visit this website. Our hosting provider records technical data for every request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Cloudflare Web Analytics also counts visits and measures page speed for every visitor; it uses no cookies and does not identify you. With your consent, analytics and advertising cookies also record how you use the site (see section 4).
Google Consent Mode. We use Google Consent Mode. Until you make a choice, or if you select “Reject”, the Google Analytics and Google Ads tags on this site do not set or read cookies on your device. They may still send limited, cookieless signals to Google, such as the fact that a page was viewed, the page address, a timestamp, basic browser and device information, and whether you arrived from one of our ads. As with any web request, your IP address is transmitted. Google may use these signals to produce aggregated, modelled measurement; we do not use them to identify you, and they are not used to personalise advertising.
If you arrived by clicking one of our ads, the ad-click identifier may be carried in the page address as you move between pages during your visit, so that the visit can be attributed to the ad if you accept cookies.
You can change your choice at any time via Cookie Settings.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means.
3. Why we use it, and on what legal basis
- To answer your enquiry and prepare a proposal: our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and taking steps at your request before a contract.
- To carry out work we have agreed: performance of a contract.
- To keep accounts and tax records: legal obligation.
- To keep this website running and secure: our legitimate interest in a working, protected site.
- To understand how the site is used and measure our advertising: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Limited, cookieless measurement signals sent through Google Consent Mode (see section 2): our legitimate interests in measuring, in aggregate, how our website and advertising perform.
4. Cookies
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics and advertising cookies. Nothing in those two groups is set until you accept. You can change your choice at any time through Cookie Settings at the foot of every page.

Videos. Our videos are hosted on YouTube. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play; the player then comes from youtube-nocookie.com, and YouTube’s own privacy policy applies to the video.
5. Who we share it with
- Service providers who process information on our behalf and under our instructions: Microsoft (email and documents), Cloudflare (website hosting, file downloads and cookie-free visit counts) and Google (analytics and advertising; cookies only with your consent — see Google Consent Mode in section 2).
- Engineers and specialist partners who work with us on your project, under a duty of confidentiality.
- Professional advisers, such as our accountants and lawyers.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
6. Transfers outside the UK
Some of our service providers process information outside the UK, including in the United States, and some of the engineers who work on our projects are based outside the UK. Where information leaves the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or on the safeguards the UK provides for this, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement. You can ask us for details.
7. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: 2 years from our last contact.
- Client, supplier and project records: 6 years after the end of the work or the business relationship, which covers tax rules and the period in which a contract claim can be made.
- Website analytics: 14 months.
- Your cookie choice: 6 months, then we ask again.
8. How we protect it
Access is limited to the people who need it for their work, our email and files are held with established providers that encrypt data in transit and at rest, and this website runs over an encrypted connection only.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your personal information, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or transfer it to someone else. You can object to our use of it based on legitimate interests, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email us and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113).
10. Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when what we do changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
